【foobar/】 I focus on building protocols with a credible shot at relevance through the year 2030 and beyond. This limitation precludes certain myopic apps - but constraints bring freedom of focus. So why build @clustersxyz on LayerZero? - hyperstructure not an app - immutable not upgradeable - powerful composability - technical founders at the helm - best security track record LayerZero is a "bridge hyperstructure". So many bridge alternatives differentiate themselves on clunky enshrined validator sets or low-liveness intent models. Both these approaches are take-it-or-leave-it and with no dynamic configuration, apps often overpay or underpay for security. Neither is sustainable over the next decade. LZ lets apps configure their own modular validation set. LayerZero is the most immutable bridge. Most people don't understand that building an upgradeable app forces every single app built on top of you to be upgradeable as well. Immutable apps can live on top of Uniswap, Seaport, or Delegate; they cannot live on top of proxies. This downstream percolation of risk means apps built on upgradeable infra become quite unstable themselves. LayerZero has taken the more difficult but more sustainable path of prioritizing immutability. LayerZero offers composability not found elsewhere. We're already taking advantage of key v2 features like native-to-native token transfers and destination chain callbacks, with more to come. This is a huge help while building universal app experiences that are one-click-on-any-chain, then everything else happens behind the scenes. LayerZero is one of the few large orgs where technical people run the show. As headcount explodes, the path of least resistance is for bureaucracy to set in. Fewer mistakes get made, the team gets more sleep, but these advantages are dwarfed by shipping cadence slowing to a crawl and strategic vision fragmenting in a thousand dead ends. I'm impressed with the technical depth and quality of novel apps still streaming directly from the @PrimordialAA and @ryanzarick (+ many others!) years in. LayerZero's security track record is unparalleled. With zero critical exploits to date, a 15 million bug bounty and plethora of high-quality audits, I've firsthand seen the Labs team prioritize careful rollout even at the expense of GTM timing. These actions in the face of tricky tradeoffs speak even louder than any of the above compelling words. as always, cm (clusters morning) ☁️
