[Trump AI Special Task Force First Meeting: Calls for Reports on Hacking and 'Jailbreaking,' No Discussion of New Regulations Yet] Odaily Planet Daily News – The U.S. President Trump-led Artificial Intelligence Special Task Force, 'Super Intelligence Force,' held its first meeting, agreeing to focus on assessing risks related to AI in areas such as cybersecurity, biosecurity, and 'model control and accountability.' The White House stated that the task force will commission the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) to draft reports on these risks and other potential issues. The task force also plans to establish mechanisms requiring AI labs to issue early warnings and systematic notifications to the government regarding security vulnerabilities, hacking incidents, jailbreaking, and other concerns. Additionally, it will form a Coordination Committee for Law Enforcement and Consumer Protection, involving the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and other agencies. The White House noted that the task force has not yet discussed the formulation of new laws or regulatory rules. Although Trump has previously opposed strengthening AI regulations, arguing that it could weaken the U.S.'s competitiveness against China in the AI field, concerns over AI potentially causing mass unemployment, humans losing control over AI, and data centers driving up electricity prices have intensified bipartisan attention on AI safety issues among U.S. lawmakers.
