The argument between Top 1 and Top 2 on offshore exchanges is not a good thing for the industry.
If Binance were not an offshore liquidity center, 1011 would not cause such significant harm. Binance is like a main road on a highway, when it gets stuck, the entire transportation network becomes paralyzed.
Normally, it is only natural to compensate our own users if something goes wrong.
But Binance is too important, if something happens to it, the entire industry will be affected. Binance certainly bears some responsibility, but this is also a structural issue in the industry. It's so big that no mistakes can be made.
But software developers know that there is no system with 100% availability. In extreme market conditions, the delay caused by high concurrency trading is almost a physical limit. It is unrealistic to demand that Binance "never makes mistakes", and even Google, Amazon, and Uptime cannot achieve 100%. Unfortunately, this happened at the worst moment.
CZ forwarded a post from Dragonfly boss, which to some extent indirectly acknowledges that there was a delay in the Binance API at that time.
Let me reiterate my point of view: Binance is responsible for this matter and has already taken some responsibility (compensating its own users). If any user feels that the compensation is not enough and wants to protect their rights, I fully support it. If they should fight, they should fight for it and let the judiciary make a judgment.
But are exchanges tearing each other apart? This is not beneficial for anyone.
Instead of arguing, it's better to think about whether there is a backup road next time there is traffic congestion on the main road? Can there be a better solution? If offshore institutions cannot unite to establish a common risk control mechanism, the same thing will happen again next time.
Last December, He Yi and Lao Xu were able to take photos together and even discuss the issue of talent mobility, which proves that the two can have a conversation.
The current state of the war is largely driven away by public opinion. Human nature is bloodthirsty and loves to watch the excitement. Some people lick, some curse, and there are people fanning the flames on both sides. I hope the big shots will abandon their past grievances and work together to establish a risk control mechanism for offshore offices, so as not to be influenced by the community.
The market situation is such that now is the time for the industry to unite. Both of you are people with a clear vision to achieve this position. I believe you know better than anyone else that there will be no winner in this public opinion war if it continues to tear apart.
