Tether freezes approximately 12 million USDT from addresses on the Tron chain

On March 14th, Whale Alert monitoring showed that Tether had frozen 11960680 USDT held by a Tron on chain address. Tether implements a freezing mechanism through the built-in blacklist function of smart contracts. After the administrator calls the addBlackList function to add an address to the blacklist, the USDT of that address cannot be transferred in or out, and the balance is still visible but permanently locked. Tether has frozen over $4.2 billion in USDT in the past few years, with the majority occurring after 2023.
