Optimism Foundation disables permissionless fraud proofs, plans hard fork following security audits

Just two months after Optimism’s permissionless fraud proof system went live, increasing the decentralization of the network, the Optimism Foundation has reverted the system back to permissioned operation after “community-driven audits” found several vulnerabilities within the system. Optimism contributor OP Labs has proposed an upgrade dubbed Granite, which includes a hardfork on Optimism’s Layer-2 network, to address the issues that would go into effect on September 10.
