Tether helped Türkiye freeze US $544 million encryption assets

At the request of the Türkiye authorities, Tether has frozen more than 544 million dollars of encrypted assets, which are involved in illegal online gambling and money laundering networks. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the company has taken freezing measures in accordance with the law after receiving information from law enforcement agencies, as part of Tether's global compliance efforts. According to data from analysis firm Elliptic, as of the end of 2025, Tether and Circle have blacklisted approximately 5700 wallets, with a total frozen amount of about $2.5 billion, of which about two-thirds are USDT.
