[Web3Auth Transfers Approximately $5.6 Million in Affected Keplr Wallets to Recovery Addresses] According to The Block, Web3Auth, a subsidiary of Consensys, stated that due to a vulnerability in its service that led to the leakage of private keys for some Keplr wallets created through Google or Apple logins, it has preemptively transferred funds from these wallets to secure addresses. On-chain data shows that the 12 recovery addresses it disclosed currently hold approximately $5.6 million in crypto assets, including approximately 2.49 million ATOM on Cosmos Hub, worth approximately $3.3 million. Web3Auth also mentioned the "original attacker," implying that some wallets were stolen before recovery, but did not disclose the amount stolen. Keplr co-founder Josh Lee estimates that approximately 20% of Google and Apple login accounts were affected, but only a small portion were actually exploited.
