[Iranian Lawmaker: Concessions to the US Will Not Guarantee an End to Hostility] Golden Finance reports on November 8th, citing Iran's Mehr News Agency: Farshad Ibrahimpour, a member of the Iranian Parliament's Presidium, responded to a recent speech by Iran's Supreme Leader in an interview. The Supreme Leader stated that anyone who believes that concessions to the US can force it to abandon its hostile stance towards the Iranian people is gravely mistaken. Ibrahimpour stated that this speech reminds people of an important reality in international relations: the nature of US policy towards Iran should not be linked solely to the ruling government, party, or political faction at the time. He stated that over the past few decades, while different US administrations have had varying political leanings, their approach to Iran has consistently been based on pressure, restriction, and confrontation. Therefore, the view that US policy towards Iran will fundamentally change with the alternation of power between the two major US parties is inconsistent with historical facts and past experience. He pointed out that historical experience shows that whenever the other side perceives Iran showing signs of backing down or weakness, it is likely to further escalate its demands. From this perspective, concessions without effective guarantees and without consideration for the interests and rights of the Iranian people cannot be a reliable solution to the dispute. (Jin Shi)
