[Microsoft Shrinks AI Computing Power Leasing, Gradually Withdraws from Oracle Cloud Agreement] According to Jinse Finance, Microsoft is reassessing its previous strategy of heavily investing in external AI computing power providers. Following tightened scrutiny of its partnerships with AI "new cloud" service providers, Microsoft is reportedly gradually terminating its AI cloud computing power leasing arrangements with Oracle.
In recent months, Microsoft has begun to gradually shut down some computing resources previously leased from Oracle and has decided not to renew related contracts. Sources familiar with the matter say that the servers provided by Oracle, equipped with older generation Nvidia chips, no longer meet Microsoft's technical specifications, thus reducing their value to Microsoft. The computing power leasing arrangement between Microsoft and Oracle originated from a computing agreement signed in 2023 to support Bing's business, which Microsoft has decided not to renew.
