[China's Central Bank Increases Gold Reserves for 24 Consecutive Months, Marking Largest Increase in Nearly Two Years] According to Jinse Finance, China's gold reserves continued their upward trend, setting a new record for monthly increases. On November 7th, data from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) showed that China's gold reserves at the end of October reached 78.3 million ounces, an increase of 830,000 ounces month-on-month. This marks the 24th consecutive month of increases, and the largest increase since gold purchases resumed in November 2024. Pang Ming, a member of the China Chief Economist Forum, believes that the PBOC's 24-month increase in gold reserves reflects its policy orientation of continuously optimizing the structure of international reserve assets. Given the current significant uncertainties in the international economic and financial environment, gold possesses both safe-haven and reserve asset attributes, forming a good risk hedging relationship with monetary assets in foreign exchange reserves. Continued increases in gold reserves help enhance the diversification of international reserve assets and improve the stability and resilience of the overall reserve portfolio. Wang Qing, chief macro analyst at Orient Securities, believes that the fundamental reason for the PBOC's 24-month increase in gold reserves is the new changes in the global political and economic situation since the current US administration took office. This means that although current gold prices remain high, the necessity of increasing gold reserves has increased from the perspective of optimizing the international reserve structure. (CBN)
