XRP slipped to about $1.18 on Friday, its first time under $1.19 since late August, with roughly $30M in liquidations over five days according to U Today. It fell harder than Bitcoin too, about 8% in 24 hours against 6% for BTC, as AI stocks dragged everything down. A couple of people have asked me if something broke. As far as I can tell nothing on the ledger did, and it was actually one of the busier weeks for the XRP Ledger in a while.
On November 4 the ledger activated the fix for the flaw where an account allowed to burn tokens could also mint them. It sat for about two weeks waiting on validator votes, so I'm glad that one's done, especially with an issued stablecoin worth billions living on XRPL.
The native lending amendment picked up two more validator votes, and Cryptonews says it's now eight away from starting its activation countdown. Once it gets there it still has to hold support for two weeks, so I wouldn't expect it live this month.
Ripple also says new node software cuts memory use by up to 23%. Boring on paper, but cheaper hardware means more people can afford to run a node, and that's good for everyone.
Then there's EURGH, a MiCA compliant euro stablecoin from GateHub and Dinaro that pays out to European bank accounts. RLUSD gets the headlines, but a proper euro option is something the ledger's been short on for years.
None of that was ever going to stop a selloff driven by Nasdaq and liquidations, and I don't think it should be read that way. It's just a reminder that price and ledger progress run on different clocks. Of those four, which one would you actually notice first as a holder?
