Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong stated in an article on X that, as CEO of a publicly traded company, he supports the tokenization of Coinbase stock, hoping to increase the number of people holding company shares. He believes that excluding potential new shareholders is detrimental to business development, and companies should cater to customer needs.
Previously, 67 companies had opposed the tokenization of their shares on OKXICE, the joint venture platform between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). The latest to raise objections include Palantir, S&P Global, KLA, SMCI, and Meta. Of the 62 companies initially planned to be covered by OKXICE, 56 have objected, representing approximately 90.3%. Companies such as Apple, Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, and Nvidia have also opposed the tokenization of their shares on the platform.
