[Greek Parliament Passes Crypto Tax Law: 10% Tax on Net Annual Income Exceeding €500; Scope of Taxation for Cryptocurrency Swaps Questioned] Odaily reports that the Greek Parliament has passed a cryptocurrency tax law stipulating that, starting January 1, 2027, investors with annual net income exceeding €500 will be subject to a 10% tax on all income. Income from staking, crypto lending, and DeFi liquidity provision will be taxed at an additional 15%. The Parliamentary Scientific Service warned that the broad wording of the bill regarding "disposal with consideration" could include cryptocurrency swaps within the taxable scope. It recommended clarifying exemptions for swaps and refining the rules for stablecoin and e-currency token transactions. The government previously stated that swaps should not trigger capital gains tax. Greek Finance Ministry officials stated that implementation guidelines regarding transaction transparency and tax audits will be released in the coming weeks. The government has not yet estimated the tax revenue, with officials stating that many Greek investors use overseas trading platforms, making it difficult to measure the market size. (Decrypt)
