[US Stocks Under Pressure During Election Week, Apple and Palantir Earnings Exceed Expectations]
According to Investor’s Business Daily, US stocks experienced a volatile week following the midterm elections. The report noted that market concerns about Democratic gains potentially impacting data center construction led to a sell-off in AI stocks on Thursday, with the selling pressure subsequently spreading to the broader market.
Regarding earnings, Apple reported a 12% year-over-year increase in revenue to $114.48 billion for the fiscal quarter ending in September, exceeding expectations, and projected sales growth of 7% to 10% for the quarter. Palantir's third-quarter revenue increased by 96% year-over-year to $2.313 billion, and it raised its full-year revenue guidance, but its stock price still fell this week.
Furthermore, the US added 165,000 jobs in October, higher than economists' expectations; the unemployment rate fell from 4.2% to 4.1%.
