[HSBC: Anthropic IPO May Have a Greater Impact on the Market Than the US Midterm Election] According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on November 6th, Max Kettner of HSBC, one of the few Wall Street strategists who had turned cautious ahead of Thursday's US stock market crash, stated that the potential initial public offering (IPO) of Anthropic could have a more profound impact than the US midterm elections. Two weeks ago, Kettner downgraded the stock rating from the highest level of overweight to neutral. He believes that regardless of how tech companies arrange their capital expenditures, the overall narrative of the tech sector has shifted negatively.
Despite the sharp sell-off in tech stocks this week, he believes the fundamental logic of AI trading remains intact. However, he remains cautious following the US midterm elections, questioning how much market risk was actually eliminated by the elections, given that investors had barely hedged against them. He stated, "The event that could truly eliminate market risk is likely Anthropic's IPO in two weeks (if it proceeds as scheduled). The ideal scenario is that the IPO takes place as planned."
