[BNB Chain to Introduce Millisecond-Level Block Timestamps via BEP-706] BNB Chain announced that BEP-706 has been incorporated into the Jenner hard fork upgrade, providing millisecond-level block timestamps to smart contracts through a new pre-compiled contract deployed at address 0x70. Previously, contracts could only read times accurate to the second using `block.timestamp`, making it impossible to distinguish time differences even if multiple blocks were generated within the same second. After the upgrade, developers can read timestamps in milliseconds through the new interface, while the return value and second-level timing logic of the existing `block.timestamp` remain unchanged. This feature can be used in applications requiring sub-second precision, such as price settlement with validity periods of only a few hundred milliseconds, auction deadline checks, and price oracle data update timeliness checks. The computation cost of the new pre-compiled contract is 20 Gas, and calls will also incur corresponding call and memory costs. BNB Chain reminds developers to pay attention to the consistency of units between seconds and milliseconds and to check the success of calls and whether the expected 32 bytes of data are returned during integration.
