[Ethereum Foundation Reminds Contract Developers to Check for Impact from Glamsterdam Gas Adjustments]
Foresight News reports that the Ethereum Foundation has published a blog post reminding contract developers and auditors to check whether their projects rely on eight gas billing assumptions. These assumptions will no longer hold true due to the gas fee adjustments in EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 for Glamsterdam. The Ethereum Foundation has created a code repository providing explanations, examples, and tips for self-checking each assumption. Affected projects can contact the team via email. The team is collaborating with multiple auditing firms and conducting internal audits, but this cannot cover all projects on Ethereum and their on-chain and off-chain code.
Foresight News previously reported that the Ethereum Foundation announced on October 23 that it was postponing the planned activation of the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet; the new activation date has not yet been determined. Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter stated on October 26 that the delay was due to a ChainSecurity report that revealed issues with EIP-8037's interaction with some contracts, and the impact of these issues is now largely clear.
