Understanding Macroeconomics: Don't Just Focus on BTC and Gold
Many traders study Federal Reserve policies and the dollar cycle, but their focus remains limited to Bitcoin and gold, neglecting the fact that forex is the most direct vehicle for global currency games.
The strength or weakness of the US dollar is first reflected in various currency pairs, then transmitted to other assets. EURUSD reflects the contest between the European and American economies and interest rate expectations, while USDJPY reflects the policy differences between the US and Japanese central banks. Various cross-currency pairs reveal expectation gaps between economies. Focusing only on cryptocurrencies and gold means missing out on a significant portion of macroeconomic trading opportunities.
Bitget CFD recently upgraded, offering leverage up to 1:2000 for 21 forex pairs, including EURUSD and USDJPY, and implementing a tiered margin system, providing macro traders with new trading options.
However, it's crucial to understand that high leverage ≠ high returns. Leverage optimizes margin requirements, not reducing trading risk.
This tiered mechanism does not apply to all positions with a uniform maximum leverage. Margin is calculated in segments based on different position exposures; you cannot simply divide the total nominal position by 2000. With the same position size, it can reduce margin requirements and improve capital efficiency, but the risk of loss is still determined by the nominal position size; a smaller margin does not necessarily mean a limited loss amount.
Gold, US Treasury bonds, the US dollar, and forex can move in tandem, but they can also diverge in price movements. When you have an assessment of the strength or weakness of the US dollar, euro, or yen, in addition to gold and crypto assets, forex currency pairs are also a way to express your views. Tools only provide flexibility; whether or not to increase your position size is ultimately up to you.
Leveraged CFDs carry significant volatility risk; do not be misled by the leverage number. Proper position management and risk control are fundamental to trading.
