[US Stock Sell-off Drives Funds to US Treasuries, Traders Bet on Further Yield Declines] BlockBeats reports on November 6th that ahead of Friday's US October jobs report, bond traders were betting on further gains in the US Treasury market, as expectations for continued Federal Reserve rate hikes continued to cool. The global stock market sell-off following the US midterm elections prompted investors to seek refuge in US Treasuries this week, with the 10-year Treasury yield falling to its lowest level since early September on Thursday. As the stock market sell-off intensified, the 10-year Treasury yield closed at 4.82% on Friday. The recent rise in the bond market has strengthened traders' confidence in further yield declines. One options trade bets that the 10-year Treasury yield could fall to 4.7% by the end of next week; another trade expiring on November 20th bets on a yield drop to approximately 4.35%. Gennadiy Goldberg, head of US interest rate strategy at TD Securities, said that he expects Friday's data to be slightly weak, but the market will remain primarily focused on economic fundamentals. He pointed out that the US economy remains quite strong, and the labor market is in a state of "low hiring and low layoffs," so the market has significantly reduced its expectations for interest rate hikes in the past few weeks.
