[Dark Side of the Moon Seeks to Lease Advanced Nvidia Chip Computing Power in Europe] According to Jinse Finance, Chinese AI startup Dark Side of the Moon is seeking to circumvent US restrictions on chip exports to China by leasing computing power from Nvidia's advanced AI chips through European data centers. Four sources familiar with the matter stated that Dark Side of the Moon had been in talks this year with several emerging cloud service providers operating data centers in Europe, seeking to lease computing power from Nvidia's graphics processing units (GPUs).
Three of the sources said that Dark Side of the Moon primarily sought to lease Nvidia's latest Blackwell series chips. One source said that the two sides discussed leasing computing clusters deployed in Europe with 8,000 or more Blackwell chips. Dark Side of the Moon mainly hopes to use these chips for AI model inference, i.e., providing model services to end users, but also intends to acquire computing resources for training models.
