[Bank of America: Buying Opportunities for Korean Won and New Taiwan Dollar After AI Sell-off] According to Jinse Finance, on November 6th, Bank of America believes that the Korean won and New Taiwan dollar have presented buying opportunities following the sell-off in AI-related stocks. Claudio Piron, Head of Asia FX and Interest Rate Strategy at Bank of America's Global Research Department, stated that both the Korean won and the New Taiwan dollar have recently weakened along with AI-related stocks, but the substantial current account surpluses in both regions provide "strong support" for investors to establish long positions. Piron pointed out that the New Taiwan dollar is the Asian currency with the highest correlation to AI exchange-traded funds (ETFs), therefore its recent depreciation is more consistent with investors' forced liquidation of positions and a squeeze on their holdings, rather than a deterioration in economic fundamentals. Regarding the dollar's performance, Piron stated that the "American exceptionalism" narrative that once drove the dollar's strength was closely related to the AI boom, but this narrative has temporarily subsided. He predicts that the USD/KRW exchange rate will reach 1330 by the end of this year, with a target of 1300 in the next quarter. (Jinshi)
