Recently, Binance and CZ (Changpeng Zhao) subpoenaed Kevin O'Leary in their $1.76 billion lawsuit against FTX. In 2021, Binance sold its FTX shares back to FTX for $1.76 billion before exiting the deal. Subsequently, the bankruptcy administrator sued Binance and Changpeng Zhao, claiming the buyback was fraudulent, that FTX was insolvent at the time, and that the payments were primarily made from misappropriated customer assets, thus demanding the money be returned to creditors. CZ denied any wrongdoing, blaming SBF for FTX's collapse, and attempted to dismiss the lawsuit. However, a US bankruptcy court judge ruled that the core recovery claims could continue, and the case entered the evidence-gathering phase. In short, the US wants the $1.76 billion and then wants Binance to refund it under the guise of returning it to creditors. Indeed, the bigger the tree, the more trouble it attracts.
