Bitcoin Core developer Cory Fields proposed a "quantum mine" concept: Bitcoin holders could pre-hide their proof of ownership; if someone attempted to transfer quantum-vulnerable BTC, they would first need to provide an equivalent amount of BTC as collateral, and both parties' assets would be locked during a waiting period. The original holder could then present proof to retrieve their assets and obtain the other party's collateral. Fields stated that this is still a thought experiment based on the premise that Bitcoin possesses quantum-resistant wallets, and the execution rules have not yet been drafted; genuine holders transferring assets may also need to provide equivalent collateral.
