[Multiple Hedge Funds Reportedly Suffering Liquidation Following Tech Stock Plunge; Walleye and Engineers Gate Confirm Losses and Layoffs] Odaily Planet Daily reports that following the recent sharp decline in US tech stocks, several hedge funds have reportedly experienced liquidation, large-scale redemptions, or layoffs of investment managers. These include Axebrook, Walleye, Engineers Gate, Lone Pine, parts of Millennium's investment team, Verition, and Samlyn.
Among these, two institutions have been confirmed by the media as affected: Walleye Capital and Engineers Gate. Walleye Capital, managing approximately $17 billion in assets, lost 5.9% in October, dismissed its head of equity long-short strategy, Anil Gondi, and plans to return some capital to investors. Engineers Gate, meanwhile, laid off its Synthesis equity investment team, which also suffered a 5.5% loss in October.
Currently, the rumors surrounding other institutions have not been confirmed, and the confirmed losses and team adjustments do not equate to fund liquidation.
