The most "beautiful" frontline worker of 2026 is undoubtedly @zilliqa. Other L2 blockchains announced migrations to L1 or chose to shut down; Zilliqa announced its migration from L1 to L2; Zilliqa's move was primarily due to insufficient usage, a depletion of liquidity on its independent chain, and increasingly high security maintenance costs. Rather than continuing to invest resources in maintaining an independent chain that hadn't reached sufficient scale, it was more efficient to proactively shift its focus to L2. From the currently announced plans, several directions are particularly interesting: First, entrusting settlement security to Ethereum to reduce the pressure of independently maintaining underlying security; second, integrating identity authentication and compliance capabilities into the network through vLEI; and third, creating a permissioned marketplace for verified institutions, gradually expanding to individuals and AI agents in the future. The vLEI aspect, in particular, deserves continued observation. In the future, when institutional assets are on-chain, the real issues to be addressed are not just transaction and settlement; identity, qualifications, compliance, and trust among participants are equally important.
