Wu learned that MetaMask released a security incident update on November 5th, stating that on September 28th, some of its infrastructure was accessed without authorization. Attackers transferred approximately 0.385 ETH staking rewards by modifying the reward receiving addresses of some Ethereum validators. MetaMask stated that the issue was fixed that same day, and all affected Ethereum validators have now exited the system. This incident caused temporary delays in withdrawals for some customers and may result in a loss of staking rewards. MetaMask emphasized that there is currently no evidence that user wallets, private keys, or customer staking principal have been compromised or withdrawn without authorization.
