[CFTC Requires Designated Contract Markets to Cease Unlawful Geographic Restrictions Within 30 Days] According to a report by DeepFlow TechFlow on November 6th, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued an interpretation of its fair access requirements for designated contract markets, requiring these markets to cease unlawful U.S. domestic geographic restrictions within 30 days, or explain the reasons for non-compliance to market regulators. The CFTC stated that designated contract markets should also ensure within 30 days that intermediaries accessing their markets do not obstruct and comply with fair access requirements; otherwise, they must also explain the reasons for non-compliance. The Commission will consider possible actions based on the facts and circumstances of each case.
