SEC's New Rule Under White House Review; Rules for Brokerage Firms' Crypto Business May Be Adjusted On November 3, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) submitted a rule document concerning crypto asset brokerage firms to the White House for review, which is currently ongoing. According to the SEC's previous regulatory agenda, this rule primarily concerns brokerage firms' net capital, client asset protection, and business record-keeping requirements. For example, the amount of funds brokerage firms are required to retain when conducting crypto asset business, how they protect client assets, and how they maintain relevant records could all be affected. Currently, some brokerage firms that meet existing requirements are offering crypto asset custody and other services. The SEC is considering adjusting how existing brokerage rules apply to crypto assets. If the new rule clarifies the requirements and reduces compliance costs, it could make it easier for traditional brokerage firms to conduct related business. @Gate, Trading More Markets
