Sending $1 through a traditional payment platform and sending $1 in a dollar-backed stablecoin are economically equivalent transactions. Yet Illinois’ Digital Asset Tax taxes only one of them. Yesterday, @DigitalChamber and @ILBlockchainIBA filed a motion for summary judgment against this discriminatory tax. The motion shows it violates the Illinois Constitution, the U.S. Constitution, and the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act, and asks the court to permanently block its enforcement.
