Apple plans to raise approximately $7 billion through its first investment-grade bond issuance in over a year, adding to the recent wave of bond issuances by major US tech companies. The funds will support purposes such as stock buybacks. According to sources familiar with the matter, the size of the issuance is not yet finalized and may be adjusted based on investor demand. The sources stated that the proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including stock buybacks, dividends, and capital expenditures. The sources also indicated that the iPhone maker will issue seven tranches of bonds with maturities ranging from two to ten years. This issuance comes at a time of heightened financing by large tech companies. Since last week, Microsoft, Oracle, and Meta Platforms have collectively raised $50 billion in the US market to support their investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Apple's last bond issuance was in May 2025, when it raised $4.5 billion.
