What's truly noteworthy about this wave of RWA isn't who's bringing US Treasury bonds and stocks onto the blockchain again. It's who's starting to initiate new real-economy credit assets on-chain. TownSquare, in collaboration with Multipli, has brought over $260 million in private lending to the blockchain, initially focusing on real estate assets on Base, Robinhood Chain, and Monad; later, it will cover mining, AI data centers, energy storage, AI robotics, and other areas. The most interesting aspect of this isn't creating another single-category RWA protocol. It aims to build a product stack that connects asset initiation, reserve verification, yield distribution, and cross-chain lending—somewhat like a "BlackRock on-chain": not just selling a single asset, but providing different real-economy sectors with their own on-chain lending entry points. Of course, private lending is never just a "high-yield wallet." The quality of the underlying assets, cash flow, valuation, and liquidation mechanisms are the real challenges that determine how far this system can go. But for RWA to truly move to the next stage, it won't just be about repackaging publicly traded assets; the real turning point will be whether it can bring real assets, real cash flow, and transparent risk control onto the blockchain.
