[CLARITY Act May Be Stalled Until 2028; Democratic Sweep of Congress Puts Crypto Industry at a Disadvantage]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Democratic Party's major victory in the US midterm elections may change the policy environment for the crypto industry in Washington. With Sherrod Brown, a critic of the crypto industry, returning to the Senate, and Elizabeth Warren continuing to wield influence in financial policy, the new Congress may focus more on scrutinizing Trump's personal crypto business dealings, including his affiliated project World Liberty Financial, rather than pushing for industry-friendly legislation like the CLARITY Act.
Sharplink CEO Joseph Chalom predicts that the CLARITY Act may remain stalled until 2028. TD Cowen analyst Jaret Seiberg believes that the CLARITY Act is unlikely to make progress in the next two years, and the current political environment may even prevent industry-supported versions of the bill from advancing. However, industry insiders like Circle emphasize that the crypto industry is bipartisan, with members of both the Democratic and Republican parties supporting it; even if the CLARITY bill is delayed, areas such as stablecoins and tokenized stocks may still make progress through existing laws and regulatory rules.
