[Samsung Wallet Launches Stablecoin Accounts for US Galaxy Users, Supporting USDC on the Solana Blockchain] According to Foresight News, Samsung Wallet has launched stablecoin accounts for eligible US Galaxy users, allowing them to buy, hold, send, and receive USDC issued by Circle on the Solana blockchain. Users do not need to download a separate crypto app or manage their private keys themselves. This feature covers approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the US. The service is jointly built by licensed stablecoin custody and infrastructure provider Bastion and Coinbase, with Coinbase holding USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault as a sub-custodian for Bastion. Samsung emphasizes that this account is a crypto wallet, not a bank account. Transfers to other Samsung Wallet users within the US and compatible external crypto wallets are free of Samsung fees. Users can also send funds to eligible bank accounts in over 60 countries, with recipients potentially receiving funds in their local currency; fees vary depending on the destination. Credit card top-ups incur a 4% fee, and withdrawals to bank accounts or debit cards also incur fees. New users who make their first deposit of $50 or more will receive $25 USDC.
