[Samsung Wallet Launches Solana Blockchain USDC Account, Covering Approximately 82 Million Devices] Odaily reports that Samsung Wallet has launched a stablecoin account for eligible US Galaxy users, supporting the purchase, holding, sending, and receiving of USDC on the Solana blockchain, covering approximately 82 million compatible devices. This service requires no separate download of an encrypted app or management of private keys. New York State residents are not currently eligible.
This service is built in partnership with stablecoin custody and infrastructure provider Bastion and Coinbase. Coinbase provides secondary custody of USDC for Bastion through Coinbase Prime Vault. Samsung clarifies that the account is a crypto wallet, not a bank account.
Users will not incur Samsung's transaction fees when transferring funds to other US Samsung Wallet users or compatible external wallets; other service providers may charge fees. Transfers to eligible bank accounts in over 60 countries and regions incur fees depending on the destination. Credit card top-ups incur a 4% fee, and withdrawals from bank accounts or debit cards also incur fees. (Decrypt)
