Milestone token allocation is tied to the core team's token unlocking based on significant project progress commitments. Missing a commitment results in the burning of 10% of the tokens unlocked that month, with an additional 5% burned for each subsequent missed commitment. Once 100% is reached, any missed releases will go to the community, and the team's allocation may be reduced to zero. NeoSoul's Believe program is a good start, transforming long-termism from a slogan into a costly mechanism.
Most projects' "long-term holding" and "team not selling" promises are merely marketing rhetoric. Here, the team directly stakes their own tokens, with failure to meet targets resulting in token burning or even eventual loss. This is more binding than simple locking—time is no longer a sufficient condition for automatic token issuance; execution is. Achieving this is true alignment of interests.
While the mechanism itself is meaningful, its ultimate effectiveness depends on the execution details. The quality of commitments must be quantifiable and externally verifiable tangible progress (product delivery, real usage, revenue, retention, etc.); a credible third party is needed to determine "whether it has been achieved," and the burning execution must be transparent.
For the crypto industry, such beneficial attempts to shift from time-driven allocation to performance-driven and accountable allocation are needed.
