When oil prices retraced, the drop was nearly 100%, and my funding rate was almost equal to the amount of capital I placed the order. This means that if I didn't add to my position, any profit below 100% would have resulted in a loss.
October was probably the hardest month. Even now, I can't say for sure that oil prices won't rebound. This decline was mainly due to the market betting that the Democrats would be more eager than Trump to resolve the Iran issue quickly.
However, whether it can be resolved, and when, remains unknown. After all, Trump is still president, and the transition between the two parties won't happen until early 2027, so there's still a lot of uncertainty.
The biggest lesson I learned from this prolonged shorting experience is not to be greedy, not to chase the market blindly, and to know when to add to positions and when to take profits. The best time to add to positions is when you predict the Democrats will win the midterm elections.
