Polymarket Founder: Prediction Markets Predict Election Results Hours Ahead of Television Networks Following the US midterm elections, Shayne Coplan, founder and CEO of prediction market platform Polymarket, posted that prediction markets now often predict election results hours before television networks. Television networks wait until the results are absolutely certain before announcing them, while more and more people want to know what's happening in real time. He cited an example: before the election, Polymarket gave a 92% probability of the Democrats winning the House of Representatives. According to Yahoo Finance, the prediction market correctly predicted the Democrats would win Congress. Polymarket officially stated that its top picks the day before the election won 419 out of 426 elections that have been settled, an accuracy rate of 98.4%. Competitor Kalshi also claims a 98% accuracy rate. Coplan also acknowledged that the prediction market industry has recently received mixed reviews, with many criticisms being "justified."
