[Johnson Has No Intention of Re-election as House Republican Leader; Succession Battle Imminent] Golden Finance reports that on November 4th, House Speaker Boris Johnson announced his intention not to continue leading the House Republicans next year. According to sources, this decision will trigger a new round of leadership struggle within the Republican Party. Following their electoral defeat, the Republican Party will operate as a minority party, reducing its influence, making the question of who will lead the caucus a focal point. The competition to succeed Johnson is likely to be primarily between Steve Scalise, the current second-ranking Republican in the House, from Louisiana, and Jim Jordan, chairman of the Ohio House Judiciary Committee. The former belongs to the Republican establishment's conservative wing, while the latter is a hardliner who has long sought leadership. Tom Emmer, the current third-ranking Republican, from Minnesota, may also join the race. In the past two election cycles, Johnson has campaigned for Republican candidates in 36 states. According to his campaign team, as of mid-October, he had raised over $526 million for individual candidates and their supported super PACs. However, these efforts were insufficient to reverse the election results. Voters turned their discontent toward Trump due to high living costs and dissatisfaction with the war with Iran.
