If most of Ethereum's L2 blockchains are integrated into EEZ,
then,
the liquidity gap between Ethereum's L1 and L2 blockchains will be greatly alleviated,
and the simultaneous takeoff of the L1 and L2 ecosystems may become a reality.
At Ethereum Devcon, the EEZ team presented three real-world synchronous atomic demos,
all completed within the same transaction, without bridges or additional signatures:
• CoW Swap: Users on the Rollup directly utilize mainnet liquidity for transactions, with tokens returning to the Rollup along with the transaction.
• Safe: Ownership changes on the mainnet and Rollup are atomically synchronized, allowing multi-chain vaults to function as a single entity.
• Post-Falcon Quantum Signature: Recomputation is performed on the Rollup (saving approximately 91% gas), and the result is directly authorized for mainnet transfer.
They also announced the first EEZ network (currently a test network on the mainnet),
and Gnosis Chain is working towards transitioning to EEZ Rollup.
EEZ's goal is not to create a new L2,
but to achieve synchronized composability between participating Rollups and the mainnet (and other EEZ Rollups):
Smart contracts can be called across chains, receive return values, and atomically complete or roll back within the same transaction.
Technically, it primarily relies on real-time ZK proofs (ZisK), brokers/combiners, and a builder mechanism that is in sync with Ethereum.
No L1 hard fork is needed; ETH continues to handle gas.
This is the path to solving the current liquidity fragmentation in Ethereum:
Currently, most transactions occur on L2, but the main liquidity remains on L1;
The protocol is forced to be deployed repeatedly on every chain.
If EEZ succeeds, the protocol can be "deployed once, combined across chains,"
thus, a new L2 wouldn't need to build liquidity pools from scratch.
This might foster more healthy competition in L2,
breaking the dominance of base/arbitrum/robinhood.
Once new L2 platforms emerge on Eez, user habits and commercial value could force base/arbitrum/robinhood to consider joining,
thus ushering in an era of collaborative Ethereum L1/L2 efforts.
