[SpaceX Selects Qualcomm Dragonwing Platform to Build Nationwide 5G Network for Starlink Mobile] According to a TechFlow report on November 4th, Qualcomm officially announced that SpaceX has selected Qualcomm's Dragonwing cellular infrastructure platform to support Starlink Mobile's nationwide terrestrial 5G network in the United States. The collaboration will utilize the Dragonwing QRU100 and QDU100 platforms, combined with Massive MIMO technology and commercial-grade Layer 1 software, to improve network coverage, capacity, and spectrum efficiency.
According to the deployment plan, SpaceX will begin nationwide network deployment in the United States in 2027, building tens of thousands of base stations over the multi-year cooperation agreement. Starlink Mobile will use Massive MIMO radio units with 64 transmit and 64 receive channels (64T64R) to improve network capacity and energy efficiency.
Qualcomm stated that this collaboration is also a step towards commercializing the shared vision of AI-native 6G infrastructure, with the current deployment focus remaining on terrestrial 5G networks.
