[Canadian Judge Orders Return of Murderer's Bitcoin Wallet, Deems Prosecution Unable to Prove Connection to Crime] According to Jinse Finance, on November 4th, Nova Scotia Supreme Court Judge John Bodurtha ruled to return a laptop containing a Bitcoin wallet to the family of William Sandeson. Bodurtha stated that the prosecution failed to prove the cryptocurrency was used for drug trafficking, was proceeds of crime, or was related to any crime; its involvement was merely hypothetical. The wallet, valued between CAD 8,000 and over CAD 200,000, was the core subject of a separate unnatural death lawsuit filed by the family of the deceased, Taylor Samson. The court also ruled that approximately CAD 5,000 in cash seized by police from his residence in 2015 was crime-related property and would not be returned. Sandeson was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 22-year-old student Samson on August 15, 2015, with the option of parole in 2030.
