Goodman Group and Digital Realty to Acquire Up to 9.9% Stake in NextDC for A$715 Million
According to a Reuters report on November 4th, Australian real estate group Goodman Group and data center operator Digital Realty made an offer to acquire up to 9.9% of data center operator NextDC for approximately A$715 million (about US$499.7 million). The offer price is A$9.50 per share, a 45.5% premium over NextDC's closing price of A$6.53 that day.
Under the terms of the deal, neither party currently intends to launch a full takeover or seek control of NextDC, but reserves the right to take relevant actions should circumstances change. JPMorgan Chase is acting as the lead underwriter for the offer.
NextDC's share price has fallen by approximately 45% this year. Previously, the company anticipated that approximately A$140 million in revenue from contracted customers would be deferred this financial year due to delays in power network upgrades for a major project in Melbourne, and announced a suspension of all new development projects and land acquisitions, while also evaluating capital recovery options such as the sale of some development assets.
