Today I was at the Binance Campus event in Vietnam 越南, an event that had been scheduled beforehand, when this $6.3 billion scandal came up.
Like many others, I genuinely keep my money on Binance and trade there; I'm a Binance user. After seeing the investigation report (https://(x.com)/Sea_Bitcoin/status/2117652769784119347), I felt a chill down my spine. I was also shocked by Binance's serious deficiencies in security awareness, access control, process management, and anomaly monitoring. Adjustments to its internal team management system should be a top priority.
Whether it's compliance or this incident, Binance, as a commercial company, has paid a heavy price in recent years: fined $4.3 billion by the West, and had $6.3 billion stolen by North Korea... Two things happening to the same company is unprecedented. Fortunately, Binance has the resources to fully cover the losses, and the report was released candidly.
Binance stated that it has blocked 57 same-origin attacks this year, which is even more alarming – the entire crypto industry now faces a common and formidable enemy. Following the Bybit, Bitget, and Binance incidents, who will be next? No one can afford to be complacent, and no one can guarantee 100% security...
Binance Campus events will proceed as scheduled, but trust will ultimately be earned back little by little through future performance.
The $6.3 billion tuition fee has already been paid, and we retail investors and altcoin holders are living in fear. We just hope the entire industry won't have to pay that price again; this tuition is far too high.
