[World Gold Council Lowers 2026 Investment Demand Forecast to 200 Tons] According to TechFlow, on November 4th, the World Gold Council released its third-quarter gold demand trends report, lowering its 2026 year-on-year forecast for gold investment demand from 400 tons to approximately 200 tons. While gold ETF demand exceeded expectations, demand for gold bars and coins slowed significantly in the second half of the year.
The council also raised its full-year forecast for central bank gold demand, expecting it to be at least on par with 2025 levels, due to stronger-than-expected purchases in the third quarter and a slight upward revision to second-quarter data. The report shows that global central banks purchased 321 tons of gold in the third quarter, while gold ETFs increased their holdings by 211 tons.
