[Three Key Members of Claude Code Have Departed in the Past Two Weeks, Product Lead Cat Wu Also Leaves] Beating AI News Flash: The Claude Code team at Anthropic has recently seen a series of departures. On November 4th, Cat Wu, product lead for Claude Code and Cowork, announced her departure from Anthropic. Previously, engineer Thariq Shihipar and Claude Code desktop developer Anthony Morris had publicly resigned on October 24th.
When Thariq left, he specifically recommended that everyone follow Cat Wu, saying that she could help people stay updated on Claude Code's future developments. Unexpectedly, 11 days later, Cat also announced her departure.
Cat had actually left Anthropic once before. In July 2025, she and Claude Code creator Boris Cherny jumped ship to Cursor, only to both return two weeks later. In July of this year, Claude and Jenny Wen, the design head of Cowork, also joined Cursor as design directors.
However, Anthropic as a whole continues to expand rapidly. Its IPO filings show that its headcount increased from approximately 940 at the end of 2024 to approximately 5,300 at the end of September this year. Over the past 12 months, the company disclosed a "regretful turnover rate" of approximately 1%, which is the percentage of employees the company wanted to retain but voluntarily left. [Original Link]
