ZachXBT: EU Institution Suspected of Being Stolen Over $133 Million is French Bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa
Chain detective ZachXBT updated his investigation, stating that the EU financial institution previously suspected of being attacked and suffering losses exceeding $133 million is allegedly the French bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, with assets estimated at approximately $235 billion.
ZachXBT first disclosed on November 2nd that the institution had over $106 million in USDC and USDT withdrawn from multiple exchange accounts on November 1st, subsequently tracking out over $27 million in withdrawals. The funds were converted into ETH and transferred via cross-chain bridges and Monero, a method he believes does not resemble that of the North Korean hacking group Lazarus.
He also criticized the victim for delaying public disclosure, resulting in the laundering of over $30 million, which "could have been frozen by EU law enforcement."
