In an article, ViaBTC founder Haipo Yang pointed out that the Binance security incident exposed at least three completely avoidable operational and architectural errors. The root cause was not a lack of technical complexity, but rather a lack of engineering discipline: First, the R&D and operations environments were not fully isolated. Those with production privileges were not equipped with dedicated devices to prevent third-party software from entering. Coding, chatting, and web browsing should have been physically isolated on separate devices. Second, the operations system lacked substantial two-factor authentication (2FA). A single key could control the production environment, and a leak of credentials could lead to a complete compromise. Management should be enforced through a system similar to AWS Session Manager combined with hardware keys. Third, multi-party computation (MPC) multi-signature was ineffective. Signatories lacked a substantial independent verification mechanism; a single node failure could cripple the entire system. Multi-signature is only effective when signatories do not trust each other and independently verify the transaction itself. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/viabtc-founder-haipo-yang-binance-hack-exposed-avoidable-security-gaps-71281
