[AMD Earnings Call: Q4 Data Center AI Revenue to Surpass Server CPU Revenue for the First Time, Total Revenue Growth Exceeding 80% in 2027]
BlockBeats reports that on November 4th, AMD held a conference call following the release of its Q3 2026 earnings report. AMD expects its data center AI revenue to surpass server CPU revenue for the first time in Q4 2026, with total data center revenue projected to grow approximately 50% sequentially. The company anticipates total Q4 revenue to be approximately $17 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of approximately 66%.
AMD's Q3 revenue increased 45% year-over-year to $13.377 billion, a record high for a single quarter, exceeding analyst expectations by approximately 2.3%; non-GAAP earnings per share increased 74% year-over-year to $2.09, exceeding expectations by more than 6%; gross margin was 56%, an increase of 190 basis points year-over-year. Data center revenue grew 97% year-over-year to $8.5 billion, accounting for 64% of total revenue, up from 47% in the same period last year.
AMD CEO Lisa Su projects that total revenue will grow by over 80% year-over-year in 2027, with data center revenue accounting for over 80% of total revenue, and server revenue expected to double year-over-year. She stated that demand currently exceeds supply, and the company is collaborating with wafer, substrate, advanced packaging, and storage suppliers to expand capacity. AMD CFO Jin Hu projects that operating expenses will grow at less than half the rate of revenue growth in 2027, with a significant improvement in operating margin.
Su stated that AI agents are becoming the "next killer application" for cloud CPUs, driving demand for accelerators and server CPUs. In contrast, the PC market faces pressure from rising memory and other component costs. Lisa Su stated that AMD's 2027 plan assumes a double-digit percentage decline in global PC shipments, and the company will focus on expanding its enterprise, high-end consumer, and desktop channels.
