[Block to Pay Approximately $964 Million to Settle US Department of Justice Anti-Money Laundering Investigation] According to Bloomberg, Block, Jack Dorsey's payments company, disclosed in a regulatory filing on Tuesday that it reached an agreement in principle with the US Department of Justice in October regarding its anti-money laundering compliance investigation. The Department of Justice will deferred prosecution for three years on charges that Block failed to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program and violated the Bank Secrecy Act. This deferred prosecution agreement still requires court approval and is expected to total approximately $964 million, with a net payment of approximately $764 million. Block had previously set aside $526 million at the end of June and increased that amount to $764 million at the end of September.
