I met with the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Dr. George Elombi, during the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda. Our discussions focused on strengthening Jamaica’s partnership with Afreximbank and expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation between the Caribbean and Africa. I also expressed Jamaica’s appreciation for the Bank’s US$600,000 commitment to support our recovery efforts following Hurricane Melissa. We discussed opportunities to support development projects, improve access to financing and deepen economic ties between our regions. Jamaica remains committed to building strategic partnerships that create new opportunities for investment, trade and sustainable economic growth.
